Rental Car Damage Insurance Claims

If you purchased the RBC TravelProtector™ Deluxe plan and a car you have rented from a licensed commercial rental agency is damaged during your trip due to a covered reason, or if the car was stolen and not recovered, you will need to submit a Rental Car Damage Insurance claim.

Important: You must first file a claim with any companies with which you are entitled to coverage for review and reimbursement. (For example, your car insurance provider or your credit card company, if you paid for the rental with a credit card that provides rental car coverage.) If there are any expenses remaining, we will need proof of reimbursement or denial for all expenses incurred.

Note: Coverage is not provided for third-party liability claims.

How to File a Rental Car Damage Insurance Claim

Step 1.

Print and fill out the Claim and Authorization Form pdf.

Note: This form is provided in Adobe PDF format. A recent version of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat may be required to open, read and print the form on your system. You can install the latest version of Adobe Reader by clicking here .

Step 2.

Gather together the following supporting documents as applicable, which you will need to send with your completed Claim and Authorization Form:

  • Proof that arrangements were made for the vehicle rental prior to your departure, such as a copy of your travel agent's invoice
  • A copy of the vehicle rental agreement
  • A copy of the check-in/check-out papers (the walk-around sheet that the car rental companies use to mark the location of scratches, dents, and other damages on a drawing of the vehicle before you take possession of it and when you return it)
  • A copy of the police report or report to the rental company
  • A copy of the repair invoice or damage estimate from the rental agency
  • Proof of your payment for the repair of damages to the rental vehicle

Step 3.

Once completed, sign the Claim and Authorization Form, make a copy for your records, and then mail the original signed form, along with all applicable supporting documents noted above, to our Claims office:
