Baggage & Personal Effects Insurance Claims

If your baggage, personal effects, and/or travel documents were lost, delayed or damaged during your trip, you will need to submit a Baggage & Personal Effects Insurance claim.

Important: You must first file a claim for baggage loss, delay or damage with the airline or transportation authority for their review and reimbursement. If there are any expenses remaining, we will need proof of reimbursement or denial for all expenses incurred that are listed below.

How to File a Baggage & Personal Effects Insurance Claim

Step 1.

Print and fill out the Claim and Authorization Form pdf.

Note: This form is provided in Adobe PDF format. A recent version of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat may be required to open, read and print the form on your system. You can install the latest version of Adobe Reader by clicking here .

Step 2.

Gather together the following supporting documents as applicable, which you will need to send with your completed Claim and Authorization Form:

To claim for loss or delay of your baggage and personal effects, submit the following:

  • Copy of the transportation, police, hotel management, or tour guide report that confirms your loss or delay of your baggage
  • Baggage delivery receipt issued by the transportation company showing the date and time your baggage was returned to you
  • Copies of the receipts or other documentation showing proof of ownership of the items you are claiming
  • Copy of the transportation company's or tour operator's written decision regarding its compensation for your claim, such as a copy of the reimbursement check or a denial letter

To claim for damage to your baggage and personal effects, submit the following:

  • Copy of the Property Irregularity Report from the airline
  • Copies of the receipts or other documentation showing proof of ownership of the items you are claiming
  • Copy of the transportation company's or tour operator's written decision regarding its compensation for your claim, such as a copy of the reimbursement check or a denial letter

To claim for replacement of travel documents, submit the following:

  • Copy of police report confirming the loss of your documents
  • Original receipts for replacement documentation

To claim for unauthorized use of your credit card(s), submit the following:

  • Statement from your financial institution indicating that the use was reported
  • Original credit card statement showing the administration fee applied to correct the illicit charges

Step 3.

Once completed, sign the Claim and Authorization Form, make a copy for your records, and then mail the original signed form, along with all applicable supporting documents noted above, to our Claims office:
